Principles Behind the Youth Leagues

Rugby Ohio is here to build confidence in our youth through the game of rugby. We help players define their identity both on and off the field. We embody these core values:

  1. Safety is Our First Priority – Everything we say and do focuses on the safety of our players and staff. All coaches are certified through USA Rugby and Level 200 certification training. We begin with flag, then progress to two-hand touch to ultimately reach tackle.
  2. Fun – This program is all about fun, competitive play, where kids are encouraged to make decisions for the team and themselves. Nothing is more fun and better at building confidence than making decisions for yourself.
  3. Equal Play Opportunity – All kids will play and have equal playing time regardless of skill set.
  4. Sportsmanship – Our players are taught to respect the game and their opponents. We do not speak negatively to each other and we do not purposefully hurt one another.
  5. Teamwork – While the game consists of plays, those plays require the involvement of all players on the field.
Youth Conferences

Rugby Ohio has established new fun youth recreational leagues for boys, girls, and co-ed. There will be modified tackle and flag teams to build sportsmanship and help with stress relief for our players. We support an Academy Style training with weekly games where all children have the opportunity to play. We even have a plan to implement adaptive wheelchair programs. The festival atmosphere will teach our youth players safety, character, and respect. A friendly post-season tournament will be held at the end of the season.

League Structure

Regional conferences have been created to simplify, streamline and bring consistency to our regular season play. Our youth programs offer non-contact and tackle clubs across the state of Ohio for the following age groups:
